Magpie

Semester two is, in many ways, better than semester one.  I've come with a combination of objectives; go out lots, meet lots of people, try lots of new things, get better organised, learn to live away from home (read: learn to cook, learn to do things without my mum nagging), learn to work again.  Among others, these seem to be the most prominent ones.  And of them, i'd say i've probably achieved more of them this semester than i did last.  I've certainly been out more; though i perhaps haven't met more people, i've spent more time with a few, meaning i'm certainly building friendships more than i did last semester; my friend is teaching my tae kwon do, i think i'm gonna join the salsa team and i've got into guitar with more impetus than i've had for perhaps a year; i've finally sorted and cleaned my room, meaning everything is in it's rightful place; i'm starting to do things promptly, rather than putting it off for weeks; work is hopefully a natural progression.  Okay, so it's not exactly perfect, but i think my priorities are right.  After all, everyone says that you don't need to work in your first year, right?

Subways tickets have been booked on t'internet.  Purchased for Me, Tom, Rory, Rox, Chris, my bro and his friend.

Everything Is

After the exposures of last year, last semester saw me feeling relatively un-giggified.  A grand total of 5 (which doesn't actually seem so bad) left me feeling as though i'd missed loads.  The truth is, 5 gigs is ample unless you talk about countless others; Turin Brakes, Roni Size, Mr Scruff, The Cribs: "the list goes on" as The Ordinary Boys *famously* sang.  Nonetheless, the feeling ebbed away at the back of my mind, and having discussed another uncountable set for this semester, i the ebbing gradually turned into a wave, threatening to wreak havoc with the feeling of regret that was being grasped ever tighter.  So i put my foot down and went on a spree.  The Infadels - Thursday 16th of February at Club NME.  The band of the moment (i.e. currently playing) are Nine Black Alps - Monday 20th February.  The Delays - Thursday 2nd March.  The Ordinary Boys - Tuesday 21st March.  Bell X-1 - Thursday 23rd March.  If Becca gets into gear, it'll also be The Go! Team - Monday 6th March.  And i discovered yesterday that it's The Dead 60s - Saturday 18th March.  And The Rakes - Monday 15th May.  Cost?  Perhaps 32 hours of potential revision time, but we all know what that time would otherwise have been spent doing.  The monetary cost, though perhaps substantial, is one i neglect to consider.  Following The Subways at Rock City last semester, i wanna see them again this (mainly cos i've seen they have tour dates) but alas; none in nottingham.

Actually, i just checked the dates.  Sunday 9th April in Bristol.  Anyone going?!  Anyone wanna go??  They're awesome live.  Text me if u wanna come and i'll get tix soon.

Two in one day; turning over a new leaf?

"You have new mail from Gemma Brown <gemma30@research-project.org>"

"I am involved in a research project"

"we know that 69% of all mail is Spam but what we don’t know is what % of that Spam accounts for chain mail"

"Reference No - (WAPDFZZVCEJ)"

Wow, in depth.  I was quite impressed with this.  It's relatively well written, which is more than can be said for most spam mails.  I also found it highly ironic; contributing to your own study are you, Ms Brown?  I even got a reference number, which made me feel special.  But then i googled it and the bubble was burst.

as a follow up to comments on sketches xanga; msngroups http://uk.msnusers.com/MyGroups.msnw?&pps=k or something.... you get 30MB of storage for photos and stuff if u sign up which seems pretty reasonable.  i think it doubles as a forum and photo board.  comment on here and if ppl wanna do it i'll set one up.
